Thaba-Tseka
Geography and history
Thaba-Tseka is the capital town of the Thaba-Tseka region of Lesotho. The town was established in 1980 which makes it a very young town. It is situated about 47 km from the village Marakabei. The atmosphere this town is meant to create is one of a remote country town.
Although Thaba-Tseka’s main street is made a gravel road, this town was the subject of James Ferguson’s book, The Anti-Politics Machine. Thaba-Tseka has a successful business community and a total population of approximately 6 000 inhabitants in the area.
Once the two roads in town are fully tarred, the most attractive circuit will be Maseru – Hlotse - Katse Dam - Thaba-Tseka - Molimo Nthuse - Maseru. The only untarred section is, the Katse Dam to ThabaTseka.
