Geography and history

Thaba-Tseka is a region situated in Lesotho. Its capital town is Thaba-Tseka and it is also the only town in this region. The region’s total population stands at approximately 130 000 residents and the region borders on the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. The 4 270 km² are of land is one of the eastern region of Lesotho.

The capital town of Thaba-Tseka is a fairly young town, but offer tourists the chance to experience the picturesque Lesotho by means of pony-trekking. The site of Molimo Nthuse is the perfect base for this activity as the centre offers reasonably priced ponies and guides. This region has many Basotho villages – Marakabei and Mantsonyane are sheltered in a deep valley and located near the Mohale Dam.
